Not many towns have an oceanfront visitor's center, but Surf City does. The commercial hub of the island and the largest of the three island towns. It is linked to the mainland by a swing bridge, which opens on the hour to allow boats to pass through.
There is no shortage of things to do in Surf City: restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores, churches, surf shops, arcade, pier, scuba diving, miniature golf, community recreation center, and a park near the swing bridge which hosts events such as movies, picnics, live music all while sitting on the water watching the boats go by. Surf City is also home to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, the only sea turtle hospital in the state. Whether buying art, enjoying water sports, or dining beachfront…you will find plenty to do in Surf City.
